What does the dot inside of the disorder rune on the second panel mean?
Also, the guy in the lower right has a curious combination of runes – darkness, illusion and communication. Anyone deeper in lore have any guesses?

I thought this to be a nice touch for Zorak Zoran’s domination over fire.

Darkness, Illusion and Communication is gonna be Argan Argar, the trader cult of Darkness & Trolls. The dot inside the Disorder rune usually was Darkness, but as Jörg said, was an allusion to Zorak Zorans’ control of Fire.

I thought his runes were Communication, Mastery and Harmony?

The runes of Argan Argar include darkness and communication, but not illusion. Personal runes of a worshipper need not overlap completely to be able to get initiated into the cult.

And what is the rune on his forehead?

That’s several runes in one. In the background, a red Death rune, interrupted by a horizontal disorder rune with a dot (for fire or darkness) inside. The short bits of the disorder rune may be interpreted as the crosspieces of horizontal death runes, too.
Another way to read that runic combo would be a fire rune with arrows or other lethal objects pointing towards it from four directions.

I wonder what magical advantages and drawbacks such a runic combination open to different interpretations can have. And what was its origin – a magical boon from visiting the Other Side during initiation or a heroquest, or the work of men?

It’s really cool to see your interpretation of ye old good Gimpy’s tavern in New Pavis. But seriously, all these people with naked blades in such a civilised town… They ought to report their weapons to the Lunar authorities…! XD

I’m wondering if this Jarang guy is gonna shoot first!

Go to Gimpy’s Tavern, have some (awful) ale, get told the exact same improbable story by adventurers all across the spectrum! It really entertains me to see a River gang guy, an Orlanthi, and a (human!?!) Zorak Zoran cultist all using essentially the same line to draw folks in.

Well … Zola Fel: cash. Orlanth: “the cause” and cash. ZZ: cash and … no funeral benefits? Does that mean the leftovers get eaten? Brrrr..

Knowing the ZZ cult, the leftovers get recruited to continue their guard.

Voldemort’s reach has grown long indeed. 😀

LOL! I am so glad I wasn’t drinking anything at the time I read your post. 😀

But that does bring up an interesting question. If we were creating NPCs based on the Harry Potter universe I wonder which of the wizardry based kingdoms would be the best fit for them? Ralios, Seshnelia, or Loskalm? I’m inclined to think Loskalm, but I suppose Argin Terror would be the closest thing corresponding to Voldemort that Glorantha really has. @_@
