Glorantha

Map of Glorantha

Greg Stafford’s Glorantha is the most elegant, original, and imaginative fantasy setting since Middle Earth. It is a world of exotic myth and awesome magic, self-contained and unique in its creation. The existence and use of the magical and mythic realms are central to the physics of Glorantha. Here the gods and heroes guard and guide their followers, sharing magics while pursuing their own enigmatic ends. Glorantha’s detailed cultures, histories, and myths are shaped by gods, heroes, and magic, and yet are plausible and logically self-consistent.

It is also the default setting for the role-playing games HeroQuest and RuneQuest. Since 1978, gamers have experienced the depth of Glorantha through these games. Greg Stafford, who first discovered Glorantha, and others, have worked for years to create a rules system that can effectively narrate these stories.

King of Sartar

King of Sartar Cover

King of Sartar is one the most important sources of Gloranthan mythology and lore ever written and a must-have for any fan of Glorantha. It is also a work of experimental fiction, a fantasy novel unlike any other, and after nearly a quarter century, it is finally back in print in a beautiful hardcover edition.

King of Sartar includes the complete saga of Argrath’s adventures in the Hero Wars. It includes the most important Orlanthi Myths, an overview of Orlanthi Mythology, and details on Argrath’s home tribe, the Colymar.

Without the work in King of Sartar, there would certainly be no Prince of Sartar webcomic.

Written by Greg Stafford and updated by Jeff Richard, the revised edition includes new chapters, corrections, additions, and corrected timelines.

13th Age in Glorantha

Moon Design Publications is excited to announce that we have partnered Jeff Richard up with Rob Heinsoo and Jonathan Tweet of Fire Opal Media to produce a Glorantha core supplement for 13th Age. The book “13th Age in Glorantha” was successfully launched via a Kickstarter on September 4th, 2014.

13th Age is the Ennie-nominated, OGL d20-rolling game that’s built to help your campaign generate great stories. It is targeted towards experienced games masters and players of all levels of roll-playing experience. 13th Age offers straightforward rules that promote dramatic, exciting combats.

As a supplement, 13th Age in Glorantha does not repeat the rules presented in the 13th Age core rulebook. Instead, the classes, monsters, and rules appearing in 13th Age in Glorantha will enable you to use the 13th Age Core Rulebook for the mythic fantasy of Greg Stafford’s Glorantha.

13th Age in Glorantha is myth-centered and set during the Hero Wars. Heroquesting to set things right, or to at least set things into a place that isn’t infested with Chaos monstrosities, is the focus of the default campaign style. Glorantha veterans will have no trouble adapting the heroquesting tools to their own campaign styles. Newcomers to Glorantha will get to learn about the world by playing through its foundational myths.
