I love it how Hendira addresses Samastina’s grandmother instead of her. And I love that look on the Lunars’ faces.

      *nods*

Based on those expressions I would say that If there weren’t assassins in Samastina’s future before then I sure bet there are now. She’s just made some seriously cold-blooded enemies. >_>

Scorched earth tactics here. If this wasn’t originally political kabuki meant more for the political audience then as an actual lobbying attempt then it’s just become that now. But I wonder how much hope Samastina and Jolerta ever really had for Hendira having an open mind about this in the first place given the poisoned dynastic politics in the background? Considering the calmness with which Hendira took the prophecy I’m also wondering if all the details of it hadn’t been already deliberately leaked long before this audience took place. Perhaps I’m too cynical. @_@

Considering that Hendira already has trollish (or possibly Kitori) bodyguards she cannot have strong reservations about allying with Darkness. Her disdain for sending an envoy to Cragspider has to be driven much more by the fact that the proposal is coming from the Delaeos clan. And possibly by the fact that there are Lunar emissaries listening – though she is a canny enough politician that she could finesse that if she needed to.

House Norinel has long-time associations with the uz going back to the mythic marriage of Queen Norinel and Kimantor. An effort to go seek out Cragspider is clearly an attempt to undermine the strong allegiance between Hendira and the trolls.
